How one Marvel Punisher Actor had his dream become a reality

BlogPost Michael Nathanson Cover Photo
Hi everyone! My name is Tyler Boronski. For those that do not know me, I am a YouTube Video Reporter. What that means is I interview Celebrities (Actors, YouTubers, Athletes, etc.) for my YouTube Channel “Tbautos512”. Geek Genie has offered me a platform to write guest blog spots relating to the content from my interviews. I look forward to sharing their stories and the information I learn from my Pop Culture guests through Geek Genie. The last few years, Marvel and Netflix have been knocking it out of the ballpark with their television series. An integral part of the success of these shows has been the consistency of quality characters. Fans have fallen in love with these Marvel characters, whether they are a main or recurring member of the cast. The same fan love reception is true for The Punisher’s “Sam Stein” (portrayed by Michael Nathanson). Sam Stein was Agent...

The Indie Index has interviewed a handful of creators and we're looking to interview asmany female comic creators as possible. People started recommending extremely talented female creators by the masses. Here's an interview with the creative team behind Heart of Millyera, consisting of Jess Cate and Jana Hoffmann. Dig in!   Introduce yourselves. Jess: We are an Adelaide based comic creator duo. Our ongoing webcomic Heart of Millyera is an all-ages steampunk adventure, featuring a cast of misfit geniuses and a cosmic sea creature. I am the writer of the Heart of Millyera, along with a few other mini-comics that we have worked on together. Jana: I’m the artist of our duo, doing the the pencilling, inking, lettering, book design, web design etc. I do the colouring for the majority of our work too though we’ve recently taken on some great local help in that department. I’m also a big webcomic...

Top 3 Iconic Villains From The Big Screen

VillainsTerminator
"A hero is only as great as its villain". Whether you feared them or loved them, or both, these iconic film villains will remain a big part of movie history. Here, I will rank my top 3 villains in film history. As the Clown Prince of Crime would say..."And here we...GO!"    3. The Terminator (The Terminator series) Portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger An 80's classic villain! With an iconic soundtrack, The Terminator lay the ground work for future CGI developments. Disguised as a human, The Terminator is a cyborg assassin sent from the year 2029 to kill Sarah Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays his character perfectly as one of the most feared villains in film history. He is a brutal killing machine that cannot be stopped. If you don't believe me watch the movie yourself! The Terminator is definitely up there as one of film's greatest villains and later becoming one...

Does The “Get Out” Movie Deserve The Oscar?

Get out 1
The movie “Get Out” is extremely creepy, and scary movies don't usually succeed in scaring me. It was also not what I expected at all. At the beginning of the movie, the premise seems to be a white girl (Rose) taking her black boyfriend to meet her parents. Her boyfriend, Chris, is extremely worried about Rose's parents accepting him since he is African American. As the movie goes on, Rose's parents' thoughts about Chris aren't one of his main concerns. They seem to like him right away.     Chris notices that all of the servants at Rose's household are black. This seems to be pretty racist and weird in today's day and age. Chris overlooks it at first, but then it gets worse and worse. The black servants seem to be very happy with waiting on the white family. They even talk about how they love doing everything for the household....

The Indie Index: Interview with Madeleine Holly-Rosing

19073364 10209285261157212 1046899521 o
The Indie Index has interviewed a handful of creators and it's came to our attention that we've not interviewed many female comic creators as of yet (some interviews pending). People started recommending extremely talented female creators by the masses. Here's an interview that many people asked for with the esteemed Madeleine Holly-Rosing. Enjoy!   What are you currently working on? I’m currently running a Kickstarter for my comic Boston Metaphysical Society: The Scourge of the Mechanical Men. For those not familiar with it, the original six issue series was about an ex-Pinkerton detective, a spirit photographer, and a genius scientist who battle supernatural forces in late 1800s Boston. The Scourge of the Mechanical Men is a 34 page standalone continuation of the series featuring Granville Woods and Tesla.  We are wrapping up production. It’s with my letterer and should be in the hands of my pre-press guy shortly. I also wrapped...

Interview with INFIDEL Creators Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell

Infidel2
March 2018 sees the release of the hugely anticipated horror story INFIDEL published by Image Comics. We caught up with creators Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell to discuss love, race, Islamophobia and things that go bump in the night! GG: Before we talk about your latest project, can you tell us about your backgrounds? How did you guys break into comic books? Pornsak: I pretty much fell ass-backwards into comics. At the time, I was a writer / filmmaker freelancing on NYC indy film sets with no intention of working a 9-to-5 when I heard about an opening at Vertigo Comics, working as Karen Berger’s assistant editor. I only took the interview so I could say I met Karen, since I was such a big fan of hers and Vertigo. I honestly wasn’t really interested in the job. I just wanted to keep freelancing on film sets and eventually become a...

The Indie Index - Indie Character Showcase

piece1
I've been thinking a lot about the blood, sweat and tears that creators put into the creative projects and why people enjoy them as much as they do. Characters are often what people relate to and helps keep them fully invested in a story. So, I put the question out into the wide, wide world and asked: What is your favourite indie comic book character and why?       Kevin Joseph: I just met Tim Stiles' Knockaround Guy today and he was badass. I also really dig Icicle from Josh Dahl & Shawn Langley’s Rapid City: Below Zero. Knockaround Guy works because the absurdity of a talking gorilla working with a mime is juxtaposed by pretty straight noir narration. Icicle works because she’s had everything taken away from her and she has no interest in getting what she lost back. She’s only interested in making the person who did it pay....

Rok of The Reds - Interview With John Wagner

rok of the reds 6 0
Geek Genie caught up with legendary comic book creator John Wagner to talk about the 2018 slated sequal to "Rok of The Reds". Get ready for aliens, action and football!    GG : For those who didn’t pick up the first series, can you tell our audience a bit about Rok of the Reds? JW: To escape galactic assassins, mighty alien shape-changer Rok of the Arkadii flees to the far reaches of the galaxy – the planet Earth - where to conceal himself he assumes the identity of the first human he encounters – bad boy footballer Kyle Dixon.   In this identity Rok develops a deep fascination with the game – a fascination that may end in death as his pursuers are hot on his tail. GG: There’s a long tradition of football themed comic books that came out of the UK. Do you see this as a continuation of that tradition?...

The Indie Index - Interview with Chris Gooch

01 1
Hey there, loyal readers! I'm deeply sorry that The Indie Index has been quiet for the past month. Christmas, holidays, work and all of the other usual things got in the way of publishing more pieces for you to read. Never fear though, we're back with an interview with none other than, Chris Gooch! Please introduce yourself to the readers who may not know who you are yet. Hello, my name is Chris Gooch and I live in Melbourne and spend most of my life drawing and writing comics.  Where do you draw your inspiration from?  Movies are my favourite thing so they’re probably the biggest influence on my work - particularly when it comes to pacing, framing and story structure. My favourite films in the past couple of years have been ones that fall apart as they go on, sort of collapsing under the weight of all the great...

CrisisEarthX1
Crisis on Earth-X is 2017's CW wide crossover, and it is the best one yet! Tonnes of action, past references and plot twists, Crisis on Earth-X definitley delivers!   Synopsis: Earth-X is the 53 rd Earth in the multiverse.
