Fallen Idols "Grand Designs of a protagonist building"

rect24976 6 2 6 1 7 8
I almost didn't make a post last week as I thought I might be cluttering up the website with blog posts. Obviously I changed my mind, but I'm thinking of making these posts fortnightly, let me know what you think. This weeks content: -work in progress, "Grand Designs of a protagonist building" -"how to write a comic part 3: story planning WORK IN PROGRESS "Grand Designs of a protagonist building": So onto page 4, had some distractions in the form of commissioned work to help a guy with his job application. but in the spare time I had managed to create this image: (still a work in progress, but definitely getting there)   This is a manner house which is going to feature a lot in the comic book, I had to decide very carefully how this was going to look as I'd be drawing this room a lot. it would...

The Indie Index - Review - Come Into Me #1

ComeIntoMeCover2 600x923
Come Into Me is a strange story. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Black Mask Studio. Based on just the premise, it would be enough for me to grab it off the shelf of my local comic store.   From the very first page, I was left wondering what I had gotten myself into by agreeing to give Come Into Me a read. I can hear the rubber gloves snapping, even now. Co-writer Lonnie Nadler described Come Into Me as “imagine if David Cronenberg directed an episode of Black Mirror. It might look something like Come Into Me.” It’s true, that description is 100 percent accurate. The story is horrific, twisted. Come Into Me breaks the chains shackled to the modern conventions of comic books and flips them on their head. Whatever you think about comics will be challenged with this debut issue alone.   By now, everyone should know that...

The Indie Index - News - Freak Weather Conditions Forces Dunfermline Comic Con Cancellation

art1
Extreme weather conditions and concern for public safety has forced the cancellation of Dunfermline Comic Con, in Scotland. The park, which was serving as venue to the event, was deemed unsafe and that even a dramatic change in weather would not allow enough time to make things safe.   Little Shop of Heroes, organisers of Dunfermline Comic Con, have posted an announcement via social media platforms: The statement says: "It is with an extremely heavy heart that we have to inform you that  Dunfermline Comic Con  this weekend has been cancelled. At 11:30 this morning the parks department assessed Pittencrieff Park and deemed it as unsafe for the public. Furthermore with the priorities for roads and paths elsewhere even a dramatic change in the weather will not allow for them to make it safe in time. Dunfermline Comic-Con is a family event, and this occasion and the Books For Schools...

VANITY (2017) Graphic novel

VANITY (2017) Graphic novel   VANITY - being a gothic tragedy in nine acts - is based on the life and deeds of Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory (1560-1614), listed in The Guinness Book of Records as the greatest murderess in the history of mankind. According to legend, she was convinced that drinking and bathing in the blood of young virgin girls would preserve her youth and beauty. However, the historical documents tell us a slightly different yet far more mysterious and sinister story. FALLEN IDOLS "CONCEPTION"

frame 1
So I'm making another blog post, almost less than a day after the first one I posted but I thought I'd strike while the iron is hot since I'm new here. Thought I'd talk about a few things here today: my work in progress and STEP 1 of making a comic book "conception".   WORK IN PROGRESS: So as you may know, I'm working on a Comic book, specifically the second issue to the one I just published on etsy.com. Currently I'm working on page 3.  keep in mind the first panel is no where near what I'd call complete, but this gives the opportunity to talk about how I do things. Since I'm using Inkscape which is a free version of Illustrator , when I'll draw something, anything really, I'll then save it into a archive library. This library contains ever pose of all characters, backgrounds, animals, plants, furniture,...

His stage coach broke a wheel while travelling on the way to the other side of the kingdom to Mountainwood. The Indie Index - Interview with Theodore Riddle

cover2002
I'm just putting it out there that this is the most in-depth interview that I've ever been a part of. Theodore Riddle is a person who clearly knows what he wants and goes for it, tooth and nail. Here's the interview, please enjoy!   Hey Theodore! First things first those those who may not know you, tell us a little about yourself. A misconception about Monolith Comics is that I am a Publisher which I am, but I am mainly a self published artist. Monolith Comics is just the imprint under which I have established my business for tax reasons to self publish my creation entitled Compu-M.E.C.H., Mechanically Engineered and Computerized Hero® and the universe which surrounds the story. I have done all the writing, penciling, inking and lettering of all of my twenty-seven 128 page black and white graphic novels. This has been the effort of twenty years worth...

The Indie Index - Kickstarter Spotlight: Behemoth Comics make/100 enamel pins

pincap
Hello! We're  Behemoth Comics ; the largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in North Texas. Just a few months ago we launched two comic books on Kickstarter. That would be the cyberpunk comic by the artist of Deadpool and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Capsule and the fantasy comic for fans of Final Fantasy, Hiraeth. They were both successes and while the writers are hard at work on the follow up issues, we'd love to give everyone a chance to get closer to the characters of Capsule and Hiraeth than ever before and introduce you to the characters of Neptune Radio and Space Copz, our next two comic book series! You can check out the Kickstarter campaign by clicking any of the images below or by clicking HERE .

The Indie Index - Interview with Stephanie Cannon

CORPUS pic
The Indie Index has interviewed a handful of creators and we're looking to interview as many female comic creators as possible. People started recommending extremely talented female creators by the masses. Here's an interview with Stephanie Cannon. Enjoy! Introduce yourself.   Hi! I'm Stephanie Cannon, a comic writer and creator from California. I was a finalist in the Ghost City Comics Competition in 2017 for my one page comic, Boot Hill, and currently have a few projects that will be released this year.   What are you currently working on? I've got quite a few projects going on right now, which I love. My biggest project is my graphic novel, Bandera. It's currently in the art and lettering stage, and will be completed this year. I'm also involved in five different anthologies currently. There are a few I can't quite talk about right now, but I'm going to have a...

The Indie Index - Interview with Alex Maday

FB IMG 1518187533241
Kaiju Gods looks to be one heck of a comic book anthology. The anthology includes the work of creators who are quite prominent within the indie comics industry. It really is a who's who of indie creators in Kaiju Gods - sadly, I think my invite to write a story was lost in transit - and the work that has gone into the anthology is astounding. Anyway, I was strong-armed by A. Shay Hahn into interviewing Alex Maday, so what choice did I really have?  Hey Alex! First things first, for those who may not know you, tell us about yourself. My name's Alex Maday and I write comics including Mongrel City Rumble which I share with artist Charity Buhain.    You’ve spearheaded the organisation of a comic book anthology called ‘Kaiju Gods’, how did the idea come about? I've always wanted to make an anthology but never had a...

Ranking All 18 MCU Movies. Which is best?

Top18MCU18
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been Hollywood's most successful movie studio since the release of The Avengers and has revolutionised modern filmmaking. After the recent release of Marvel's Black Panther and with the anticipated release of Avengers Infinity War, I have decided to make a king sized special on the MCU movies, ranking all the movies from 18 right through to number 1!   18. "The Incredible Hulk" (2008)   The main reason The Incredible Hulk is in the dreaded 18 th position on my list is because we can all agree that it was forgettable. It may have a been a decent movie at the time but after the casting change no-one remembers Edward Norton as The Hulk. Will we, however see a Mark Ruffalo Hulk movie? That most definitely won't be forgettable! 17. "Iron Man 2" (2010)   Iron Man 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed...

WWE TOP 7 WRESTLEMANIA MOMENTS

Wrestlemania1
There have been 33 WrestleMania's and all of them had iconic moments. Whether it was the End of the Streak or Daniel Bryan's unbelievable victory at WrestleMania 30, they were all unique in their own way. So, I'm going to be counting down the Top 7 WrestleMania moments of all time! 7.  The Boyhood Dream WrestleMania 12   Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had so many matches that were all amazing. Shawn Michaels was having a tough year in the WWE and finally got a push to face Bret Hart. In the closing moments Michaels hit Hart with the Sweet Chin Music and as he was handed the title. He was once again a child with only a dream that had come true. 6.  Icon vs Icon WrestleMania 18                         The Rock vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Without a doubt...

WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 Predictions

WWEElimination1
With WrestleMania right around the corner, there are still two very important PPV's leading up to WrestleMania 34. Having the first ever Women's Elimination Chamber Match, Ronda Rousey's WWE contract signing, the 1# Contender -ship Match to determine who will be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, and so much more! These few weeks aren't just the Road to WrestleMania, but these are the foundations of the grandest stage of them all. Ronda Rousey's Contract Signing Before we get into the actual matches, I'm starting with a very important and exciting part of the show. 1 month ago, Ronda Rousey made her debut appearance at the Royal Rumble. A few weeks ago, Kurt Angle confirmed Ronda Rousey will be signing her Raw contract, at the Elimination Chamber. Prediction: As the contract gets signed, Stephanie and Ronda Rousey engage in a vicious brawl, setting up their WrestleMania 34 Match. Matt Hardy vs...
